Dayj Interviews: Kp Bawa-Allah

Get to know 18 year old KP Bawa-Allah as we took a trip to his Atlanta home.

Tell us about what inspired you into fashion.

I was never really inspired into fashion, it was more like a shift honestly. I started shifting into fashion in the studio actually. Once we release our first mixtape "Self Strangers" everything was promo, our pages were flooded with the cover art and promotional material. Razi said one day "lets throw that eye logo on a T-shirt and put our Instagram names on the back so people can go and listen to the mixtape boost promotion just by walking around the mall.

Once we did those the shift began, I started to get into designing and we made bucket hats and more shirts for ourselves. Eventually we realized this doesn't only have to be about music it can be about fashion too.

What are your hobbies?

I really only have one hobby, and thats to create things. I live by the official Amok Kidz Slogan “Create What You Want”  I believe no one should be able tell you not to develop your ideas or not to make something you like. Creativity is endless its inside of everyone its up to us to bring it out and use it how we see fit not how others do. Whether thats inventing new technology, doing photography, making designs, or rapping theres nothing we as creatives can’t do.  

Who do you look up to?

My biggest inspiration has to be Tyler the Creator and Kanye West. Tyler simply off the fact that at 16 he was doing whatever he wanted. No one was rapping about what he was, no one was doing the things he was doing. Rappers weren’t collaborating with skate brands like vans. Also Kanye because if the way he carries himself, he understands what it means to be a creative and has been doing it for years.

We know you and your friends have a clothing line, what has been the most positive outcome ?

The most positive outcome from Amok would honestly have to be the people I’ve met. Haha I’m extremely blunt so not a lot of people like the way I talk, but Amok has introduced to people who either like or understand the way I speak. From Tahj to Sailing Team I’ve been introduced to some amazing people and I’m eternally grateful to my team for placing me in the position that I’m in now.

Any plans for the future? Any fashion travels ?

See me for some reason i go through little phases were for some reason I can’t be creative, its weird but when ever I’m fully inspired i try to get as much planning done. Umm were locked in to go to LA in October for the Flog Gnaw Carnival and link with some people over there. Following that were hoping to secure a spot in Complex Con which is still in the works so no guarantee. Me personally I’d like to go open a Store within the next 2 months on the Nawf.

What's one unique thing you'd like to share that many not may know about you?

My Real Names Kareem lol. I go by KP because I feel like it and also my middle name haha. Also i love all of you guys thank you for reading about me and my team. S/O to the whole gang and then some my Nigga Marrigio, Truebeatzz, Basil, Razo, and Moriam!
